πŸ‘»πŸˆβ€β¬›πŸŽƒ Happy Halloween! πŸŽƒπŸˆβ€β¬›πŸ‘»

It's been a minute since I made an animation, but there's nothing like a deadline to get me to finish a project! This one's for the Fantoms of the Underground gallery show, a collaboration between my friends at District Motion Graphics and Fantom Comics.

If you made a costume this year, tell me what it is! I’m going as the window scene from the original Nosferatu. My roommate is going as a corpse flower. We've finally put the piles of cardboard we've been hoarding since July to their intended purpose.

After my summer book promotion marathon across the USβ€”including two trips to the west coast!β€”I'm looking forward to sitting on my butt at home for the rest of the year. Don't get me wrong, it was amazing to get to meet readers and fellow authors (including fellow Middle Grade Escapaders Jess Callans, Kerry Madden-Lunsford, and Shana Targosz)! But I desperately need a recharge. I've been itching to dive into my next projects. I'm looking forward to having an uninterrupted couple of months to do just that.

I've had the opportunity to talk with some cool folks recently about Lu and Ren's Guide to Geozoology. Take a look or listen if you're interested in learning more about my approach to making stories:

And a few lovely reviews:

Plus, I was super flattered and honored that Anderson's Bookshops saw fit to include Lu and Ren's Guide to Geozoology on their Mock Newbery list!

You can now get a copy of Lu and Ren's Guide to Geozoology wherever books are sold! I recommend getting it directly from your local independent bookstore, from Bookshop.org, or requesting and borrowing it from your library!

RESOURCES FOR OUR TIMES

It’s a highly uncertain time right now, not least for our unhoused and our migrant neighbors. I urge everyone to inform themselves of their rights and their neighbors’ rights, and to be aware of what to do if you see someone being detained. Stay safe, and keep each other safe.
